Feed2JS @ IncSub

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

Over Easter Mr Levine of C. D. Blog was kind enough to install a fully operational version of feed2js (feed to javascript) at incsub.org, and here it is.

This is one heck of a nifty app in that you basically chuck in the RSS feed that you want to display on your page (say, for example that you wanted to run incorporated subversion in your sidebar… that’s an offer by the way :o) and it spits out a bit of code that does exactly that.

Plus you can simply… oh so simply… modify how it looks, feels and more. Hey, it’s even work in you’re WebCT or Blackboard course… now there’s a thought!

Elgg open source

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

Wonderful stuff, elgg open source is now out and available.

I’ve talked before about how exciting this is in a K12 multi-user blogging context and I reckon it’s got potential in an organisational sense too… I can’t install it now as I don’t have a free domain to play around with (it needs to be installed as the root) but if anyone would like to get / give me one then I’ll provide the hosting and we can get something going.

Good work David & co.

Redesign and relaunch

Monday, March 28th, 2005

Would anyone like to guess how I’ve spent my easter break… IncSub now has a new look and a slightly new approach, come and have a look around and tell me what you think!

We’re still very much supporting teachers, trainers and researchers who would like to use weblogs, wikis, CMSs and other open source software but have expanded, out of demand and the fact that it’d be nice to be able to cover the server costs here, to offering IncSub hosting and designs as well.

The idea is that, by providing unlimited mysql databases (pretty much every hosting account you can find limits these) you can essentially set up a blogging / wiki / CMS / open source service or sandpit for an entire school, institution or organisation. Kindof a ‘your own IncSub’ approach, supported by someone (i.e. me) who has set exactly this kind of thing up.

More on this soon but if you’re interested you can either get in touch with me directly, in the comments or through our spanking new ‘contact’ form.

I’ll give you the first month free if you get in touch in the next few weeks :o)

I’m pretty excited about the IncSub Associates too… but more on that in another post!

Oh, and IncSub it is (thanks to everyone who voted)

IncSub, incsub or Incsub?

Wednesday, February 16th, 2005

In preparation for a pretty big redevelopment & launch of new IncSub stuff we’re having an identity crisis :o)

Which do you prefer, IncSub, incsub or Incsub??? vote now and put us out of our misery!
