Tom Hoffman & ‘the top 20?’

In General on 24/11/2005 at 8:47 pm

Hey, I found Tom Hoffman, wondered where he’d gone :o) But at the same time… this as one of the top 20 edublogs… c’mon, lay off the arse-suckery and get your nominations into the edublog awards!!!

  1. Here’s something interesting. That list of “Top 20 Edublogs” looks a lot like the 20 blogs I put out on my wiki as an experiment in introducing folks to Bloglines. (http://www.pedersondesigns.com/wiki). I was in no way attempting a “Top 20″ list, it just got remixed in that context.

I should throw a disclaimer on my wiki, but I’m afraid the kitty is already out of the bag in the blogosphere. :O)

  2. Copy of Comment posted to Mr. Pederson this morning:

Please accept my apology for the unauthorized “remix”…

I have been following and enjoying your blog (and many others) as I have been on a personal mission to better understand the blogosphere and its value in education.

My experience as an Elementary Principal for 15 years and my last 2 years as the Director of Technology Planning has sparked this recent interest.

My first step was to read blogs, then I created a few, one was the WheresGlenn Blog (http://wheresglenn.blogspot.com) which was intended to let my staff know where I was during the week and to give them an electronic weekly bulletin.

Recently I saw your wiki and loved the 20 edublogs you suggested, in fact I was in complete agreement on their value and I posted (without your permission) the same list with one addition as the “Top 20 Edublogs” and suggested that this would be a great starting point to begin reading about blogs in education.

The 1200 teachers in my district all have laptops, projectors, Dcams, and a nice speaker but they are woefully behind in their knowledge of the possibilities on the web. This post was an attempt to get them started.

Althought it appears to be too late, I will make a change on my post today and give credit to you and your wiki as well.

I have learned yet another valuable lesson in blogging…apparently Germans and Aussies are reading my weekly bulletin which was originally intended for my staff…I’ll be more careful with my future posts. I still have much to learn.

  3. Hey, seems to me like some excellent rip mix burn which no-one should get stressed about. I actually really *like* these kind of things cost they a. help me find good stuff and b. get the conversation going.

Still think that one of the great things about the blogosphere is its capacity to subvert the established order though.. which is why I’d stick by saying that I find the inclusion of AN’s one liners a bit odd… couldn’t agree more with many of the others though!!!

Heck, I’ll forgive everyone if you promote / nominate / vote in the edublog awards :)

  4. No stress, no apologies necessary!!! It’s cool to have met somebody new throughout this process! Amazing how it all comes together.
