Elgg open source

Wonderful stuff, elgg open source is now out and available.

I’ve talked before about how exciting this is in a K12 multi-user blogging context and I reckon it’s got potential in an organisational sense too… I can’t install it now as I don’t have a free domain to play around with (it needs to be installed as the root) but if anyone would like to get / give me one then I’ll provide the hosting and we can get something going.

Good work David & co.

The idea of Portfolio seems to have been hikjacked in educational technology development by people obsessed with assessment. as Chris uses the term - it is a place to do things - not just store things in a pre-ordained format. secondly the ‘tool box…

There’s only a minor amount of hacking required to get it to install as a subdirectory - I’ll be doing some testing and then releasing documentation on how to do this within the next couple of days.

    Thanks for the announcement :)

If you pick a subdomain name, we can give you some blank webspace to try it out on? :)
