Elgg open source
Wonderful stuff, elgg open source is now out and available.
I’ve talked before about how exciting this is in a K12 multi-user blogging context and I reckon it’s got potential in an organisational sense too… I can’t install it now as I don’t have a free domain to play around with (it needs to be installed as the root) but if anyone would like to get / give me one then I’ll provide the hosting and we can get something going.

The idea of Portfolio seems to have been hikjacked in educational technology development by people obsessed with assessment. as Chris uses the term - it is a place to do things - not just store things in a pre-ordained format. secondly the ‘tool box…

There’s only a minor amount of hacking required to get it to install as a subdirectory - I’ll be doing some testing and then releasing documentation on how to do this within the next couple of days.
