[...] I’ve been trying to get my head around the viability of moving educational programming from institutionally centered Learning Management Systems (LMS) systems, or even institutionally owned and controlled educational social systems like Elgg or Barnraiser, to a distributed and likely syndicated set of tools often referred to as Personal Learning Environments (PLE). The recent postings by Leigh Blackall, response by Dave Cormier and the work of Paul Trafford and his RAMBLE project at Oxford got me thinking.
Found your "communication dynamics" very valuable. I'm currently teaching two introductory college classes. Each one has half the students using blogs, the other half using wiki's. So far, I think the wiki's are more helpful for the students. But I didn't know about the aggregator application. That would certainly help me to monitor what the students are writing, and I think that it would make the experience more lattice-like for students because it would make it easier for them to monitor each other's postings.<!-- X-spaminator-strike: whitelist, -3 --><!-- X-spaminator-passed: IP check --><!-- X-spaminator-strike: crap flooding, 3 --><!-- X-spaminator-passed: email check --><!-- X-spaminator-passed: author url --><!-- X-spaminator-passed: comment body -->

Fascinating stuff. As a regular contributor to several Yahoo groups in my professional areas of practice (i.e., Training, OD, HR), I find that the online learning environment is real, sometimes frustrating, and evolving. I'm getting into blogging but I think the real action for collaborative e-learning will be in wikis.
Cheers!
